While tattoos may look cool, they definitely destroy the sex appeal of a person because they look unnatural.

I appreciate that you made this video, because tattoos are something I know very little about. I'm sad that this video came to be in part from some horribly rude people out there! Personally, I do not want any tattoos on myself. I don't think it would be a good look on me and doesn't meld with my personality. On the other hand, as an artist, I have an artistic opinion. But I would never tell anyone that I thought their tattoo was ugly any more than I'd go into their house and tell them how ugly their decor choices are. That's just mean and uncalled for to hurt someone on a personal level like that. I also find some tattoos almost intimidatingly cool, like more tribal type ones on guys. Rarely do I see tattoos as beautiful. To me, the ones I like are either fierce or special for being sentimental. The ones of yours that I can see in more of your videos look prettier and prettier the more I see them and how you choose tops that really compliment the colors. I too am guilty of judging people on appearance before giving them a chance. But I've learned enough times, thankfully, how very wrong I can be. So I don't walk the other way like I want to. I would have missed out on many beautiful friendships and some of the best milestones in my life if I had not given someone who's appearance was different than what I was used to a chance to find out who they are inside. For example, I had to work up a lot of bravery to approach a man dressed in all black fake leather with studs (the whole punk rock star look) and a flaming red Mohawk. But he was looking at puppy milk bottles in the pet store with great confusion. So I asked him if I could help. That lead to me being able to help one of his very sick puppies which lead to me finding a dog that will forever be my soulmate. So all you haters out there – you're hurting your own chances at happiness.

Wow those asswipes! Why would they say such mean things about you and your body. I am very happy that you found vegan ways and that you are so sweet and calmly replying to them. Kill them with kindness is my way but still can be tough.

I've been vegan for less than a year now, vegetarian for over 20 years though. Made the final step last summer with the vegan boom here in Finland making it much more easier for us vegans to live our everyday lives. So many vegan options these days… My latest tattoos are vegan (at least when it comes to the ink), from the older ones done by several different artists, I don't know. But hey, who can change the past? For the latest tattoos I've got I just sent the list of vegan inks to my tattoo artists and asked if he uses the ones on the list. The answer was "yes," and phew, I was delighted!

I am severely allergic to wheat (which is in EVERYTHING). Listing everything I need to look out for in a vegan tattoo, I am reminded about my perpetual checking of every damn thing for wheat in fear for my life. 🙂
I have one small tat I got when I wasn't yet vegan. Considering I got it in hip downtown Seattle, the ink is probably vegan but I doubt the process was. I will certainly be calling them to ask about they veganess as I do want to get a semi colon tattoo someday. Newly going vegan, a vegan semi colon would mean even more to me now. 🙂

Tattoos are not my cup of tea, but if people want them, let them do their thing.. I will not condemn folks for having them, just as long as I don´t get asked to have one. To each their own..  🙂

Sure everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but why is he expecting you to be sexy for him in the first place?…
Just like animals don't exist for us… women don't exist for you either.
    All vegans should be feminists.

I'm an apprentice and can only offer some advice to vegan tattoo collectors, please vegans ask your artist about the vegan options available in all honesty the BEST inks are vegan, Eternal, Fusion, StarBrite, i myself use Intenze and Alla prima to name a few that are widely used brands. Infact i have yet to see a shop that doesn't have vegan ink pigments, a lot more artists recently are asking clients if the are vegan to avoid using aftercare sprays and solutions that involves animal products. same with piercings vegans be sure to stay away from jewelry made from pearl, coral, abalone, leather, etc. Ask your artists they are the best informed about products. That being said the tattoo industry is no more wasteful than any other professional industry and is in constant progression with demand

I have three tattoos that I got before my vegan transition. There's a new tattoo shop in town and I'll definitely be talking to the artist about vegan options before getting the next one. I'm starting to plan a vegan-themed tattoo, as well! Thank you, Emily, for this nugget of info!

I hadn't thought about the veganism of tattoos until I watched the Vegan police vid.
I got two very simple tats in July 2015 long before I went vegan this year.
As it is for most newbs, at the start, there are many surprises like the non-vegan nature of honey, chocolate, etc., and now tats.
The tat shop in Santa Fe, New Mexico where I got inked (Four Star) is pretty awesome, so now I have an excuse to ask them about the materials they use to find out whether or not I got vegan tats – something I was totally ignorant about until just a few minutes ago!
Thanks a million for your excellent content. Bitesizevegan has been my go-to source whenever I'm in doubt or seeking dietary/nutrition ideas.

I have three tattoos, all of them I got prior to going vegan and it never even occurred to me at the time that there may be animal products in the inks. Luckily I live in Seattle, one of the most vegan friendly cities in the US, and most of the tattoo shops you find in Seattle do offer vegan inks and vegan oils to replace petroleum jelly. It makes it so much easier now that I can be assured that my next tattoo will be vegan. 🙂
