✿ Veganlovlie Recipes / Banana Pie – Mauritian Style (Tarte à la banane) :
This is a very popular pastry that we usually have with a cup of tea in the afternoon in Mauritius. The recipe is easy to veganise if you just use vegan margarine instead of butter in the shortcrust pastry.

I haven't ever heard of this pie. Thanks so much for sharing your recipes. I really appreciate it very much. My husband & I need vegan recipes, because we gave up meats, & all dairy products. It's going to be a little harder with dairy, but I gave it up for 3 weeks in. Thanks again. Blessings to you & your family..

I tried this yesterday an it was okay. The pie crust I will use for other pie recipes, it´s very good 🙂 The filling is also good but a little bit overwhelming for me (too banany? xD). But it´s delicious and the best of all is that it´s vegan 🙂

Perhaps another variation would be to use full fat coconut milk instead of water and a touch of pure vanilla. I love coconut so a bit of shredded coconut drizzled on top of the pie before adding the lattice would be tasty. Mmmm…

To achieve a soft crust, its important NOT to add any water to the dough, just rub in/ knead the butter/margarine and flour to get the required consistency. The banana should also be cooked a bit more until it starts leaving the sides of the pan. Nice vid though, keep it up. 🙂
