Vegan for seven years. I don't need to lose weight, in fact am a bit underweight but my belly is always huge compared to the rest of my body and even when I limit myself to only whole plant foods, it only reduces the bloating, not resolve it. Tried raw and I couldn't feel full though I stuffed myself with many kilograms of food a day and I seem to get diahrrea when I eat lots of raw. Cooked beans and grains seem to not give me diahrrea so I eat mostly those. I also avoid bread, that's also a problem for me. Calorie dense foods, especially fried foods also problematic so I cook salt oil sugar free. All this only helps reduce my bloating but I always still have it to a large degree no matter what I do.

It might just be a problem eating large amounts of food at a time, which tends to happen both when I eat raw and when I get a taste of processed food which sends me on a binging frenzy.

Getting a consult with Gojiman but I don't know if anyone can help me. Standard medical system has been utterly useless with this issue – tried vegan dietician, standard gastroenterologist, naturopath, endocrinologist, gp. Tried Alan Goldhamer. Low fodmap. Besides avoiding processed food which only reduces the issue somewhat everything has been utterly useless.

What's ridiculous is that unless I eat lots of raw I get low folic acid in my blood tests despite eating 100% whole plant foods, the last thing you would expect to be deficient on a vegan whole foods diet but it's the only thing I tend to be deficient in but if I eat tons of raw produce my bloating and diahrrea get worse and I can't stay full so I have difficulty fighting junk food cravings on a raw diet or even just high raw diet with cooked food.

If I eat junk food just one day, or have some bread with my veggies, it takes a week or two of avoiding those to reduce the added bloating. If I let myself go and do it for a week it takes months of processed food abstinence to reduce the added bloating. I have to eat 100% perfect to get any results, and even those are limited and whenever I step just a bit out of line the boulder goes all the way down the hill and I have to push it up all over again.

The medical system is telling me I'm fine except they want me to eat more calories but calorie dense foods increase my bloating. They say avoid vegetables but then I'm low on folic acid so they want me to supplement though I can get it naturally but I have to eat a boatload of raw produce to do so which increases my bloating. I have no idea how to tackle this problem and all the people I've went to have given me useless advice that didn't work.

I don't expect this issue to ever be resolved after years of failure to do so. I've tried so many different elimination diets. Literally everything bloats me, just to varying degrees.

Still will stay vegan until I die. My bloated belly doesn't justify supporting the animal industry and I don't know that eating animal products would even help my bloating. As far as I know it seems I will be underweight with a pregnant belly until the day I die, because I can't remember when I didn't have one.

Behind closed doors I doubt very much you are eating raw food only. Without make up your skin looks very aged.

Green juice is so nasty w/o any apples…and apples are good to stimulate cleaning the liver and gallbladder. I never recommend clients do green juice w/only veggies, b/c I don't want them to be grossed out and never juice again. I do believe you've bounced back from fruitarianism by becoming a bit of a carbophobe. Balance, remember? 😉

Kate flowers if you don't have a juicer just eat all the ingredients in a bowl like a salad. Chew it really well you will also benefit from the fiber which is really important in the morning to clear out your bowels. !!

I'm not vegan still not sure I'm headed in that direction (I do love a good steak) but I tried the broccoli slaw recipe and loved it. I prefer raw broccoli to cooked but even raw it's a little bitter usually, the apple counters that nicely though.  I put a dash of cayenne for a bit of zip then tried it with a little balsamic vinaigrette and then again with vanilla Greek yogurt. Both way were great but honestly I could eat it with no dressing. Thanks

i think people should use vegan diets only in short period for health issues or body cleeansing but i think everyone should get insipration from vegans to include more raw and healthy food to their daily diets. meat tastes much better with some vegetables:D and ofcourse paying more antention to animals and how theyre treated
