I was going to ask how you know some of these were vegan. But you answered my query before I could finish typing. I guess speaking Korean helps a lot. Anyone know ‘is it vegan?’ In Korean?

Ummm sorry but anything with batter has high risk of egg. Not Heotteok, but the savory pancake and the fried seaweed rolls – I think the vendors thought she meant fillings, not the concept of vegan. I've lived here for years and that's just the recipe. Do with that info what u will

why do so many people think korean food is meat-based? we need to dispel the idea that it's all korean bbq and seafood. so much of our food is plant-based and comes from monk diets

I think vegetarians have it a little easier than vegans because we're okay with diary and some are okay with eggs as well……so we'd be able to adjust. The problem is that because Korean cuisine relies heavily on non vegetarian products, a lot of seemingly vegetarian or even vegan dishes might have animal products in them – fish sauce being the most widely used.

This video is so so so so helpful because it really is reassuring to know that vegan friendly food can be found and enjoyed just as much in Korea!♥️
